It helps explain how animals change and adapt to their surroundings and environment. And science even helps us predict the temperature based on cricket chirps. And, as Jesse and Gabriella learned, there are many aspects of an animal’s life and environ- ment which can help or hinder its chance for survival. Animals have adaptations that help them fly, or stay warm in extreme environments, or blend into their surroundings. But, as is the case with the elephants that Jesse and Gabriella learned about, animal survival often hinges on hu- man behavior as well.
