Where Are Immigrants Settling? Immigrants settle in certain parts of the United States more than others. According to the Pew Research Center, as of 2018, about 45 percent of all immigrants live in just three states: California, Texas, and Florida. Other popular destinations for immigrants include New York, New Jersey, and Illinois. Within these states, immigrants tend to cluster in urban areas. 6
