Seagrass Seagrass is the only flowering plant that lives completely submerged in coastal waters. Seagrass meadows are popular nursery grounds for many fish species, crustaceans, and other organisms. Rising sea and carbon dioxide levels are making seagrasses vulnerable to extinction.
