Named to 2017 NBA All-Defensive Second Team George received tremendous recognition for his defensive skills when he was named to the NBA’s All-Defensive second team in 2013. He was also named to the All-NBA third team that season. The All-Defensive team honors, given since the 1968–1969 NBA season, go to the 10 best defensive players in the league, divided into the first and second teams. For that season, he finished in the top 20 in steals (sixth with 143) and defensive rebounds (15th with 515). He has since made the All-Defensive first team twice (2014, 2019), and was again be named to the NBA All-Defensive second team in 2016.
