He proved himself ready to move from college ball to the challenges of the professional gridiron. Averaging 4.83 yards (4.4 m) per carry, he racked up 1,106 yards (1,011.3 m) on 229 rushing attempts. These totals were tops among all rookie running backs and positioned Gurley for future greatness at the position. His effort also helped open up the Ram’s running game, adding a needed offensive weapon.
