A stand-alone HMDD is a cordless device that does not require being tethered to a personal computer or a phone to view content. Examples include the Microsoft HoloLens mixed reality headset and Facebook’s Oculus Go. A tethered HMDD is connected to a high-powered personal computer to view high-quality content. Examples include HTC Vive and Oculus Rift.
