Chapter 1

Greatest Moments

RUSSELL WILSON’S NFL CAREER Russell Wilson, born November 29, 1988, appeared to have all of the makings of a major league baseball (MLB) shortstop or second baseman. Drafted 140th overall by the Colorado Rockies in the 2010 MLB Draft, Wilson played Class A ball in the summers and was on his way to a pro baseball career. In the autumn, he also attended North Carolina State University (beginning in 2008) where he played football and baseball for the Wolfpack. Wilson made all-conference as a quarterback (QB) in his freshman year, and it appeared that he had numerous athletic options available to him and was going to leave quite a legacy behind him at NC State. That was not to be, however, as Wilson opted to transfer after his junior year to Wisconsin to finish his college play with the Badgers, culminating in a January 2012 appearance in the Rose Bowl and being drafted in the 3rd round of the 2012 NFL Draft.
