Although Jutland has some bedrock, and some can also be found on the island of Bornholm, the vast majority of the country is made up of moraine. (Moraines are a sandy mixture of clay, soil, and stones left behind by glaciers.) There is also an abundance of salt and chalk in some areas of Denmark, which are among the country’s few natural resources. Due to its location between the North and Baltic seas, Denmark also boasts many beautiful beaches and rich coastal habitats. These areas are home to a wide variety of aquatic life and provide many valuable harvests for the nation’s fishermen.
