Cities, Towns, and the Countryside B razil’s landscape is varied, from the mountainous highlands to the coastal lowlands. Cities, where most of the people live, crowd the eastern coastline along the Atlantic Ocean, while tiny villages dot the interior. Brazil is divided into five geographical regions: the Northeast; East; Central West; the Amazon Basin; and the Amazon rain forest. Most of Brazil has a tropical climate, although the Amazon Basin is extremely humid. The climate along the coast is relatively mild due to the ocean breezes. Brazil’s big cities are the economic and cultural hubs of the country, where impressive skyscrapers look down on spectacular landscapes. The capital, Brasília, is located in the interior of the country in the Central West Region,
