o not blame yourself, but more importantly,
do not get cross with your puppy. If you find
a mess, simply clean it up, making sure you
use a deodorizer so he is not tempted to go in the
same place again. There is no point in scolding your
puppy after the event—he will not associate the
scolding with what he has done, and you will only
confuse him.
If you catch your puppy red-handed, pick him up,
take him out to his toileting area and give him
the verbal cue you have taught him. If he obliges,
remember to give lots of praise.
Puppies tend to give warning signals before they
go, so be on the alert if you see your pup sniffing or
circling when he is in the house. Take him outside
without delay.
