The Business of Guns

Guns sold at gun shows are virtually untraceable.

Flea Markets—What’s in a Name?

One common term for an open-air market or swapmeet is “flea market.” This termhas one of two origins. It may be an evolution of the colonial-era New York City Fly Market, so named because the insects from a nearby marsh swarmed buyers and sellers. Alternately, it may refer to a Paris market of the 1800s known as the “market of fleas” because of the run-down goods, vendors, and location, having been forced out of the prime real estate during the reconstruction of Paris by Emperor Napoleon III.
