Why Eat Whole Foods?

From farm to table, from seed to shelf, from social media influencers to doctors to everyday students, people are talking about the food they put in their mouths. Where does it come from? What is it doing to their health? How is the food most people eat now different from what people have eaten for thousands of years? People are looking more closely at food, because food is where they get the fuel and nutrition they need to live. The food that people eat has changed a lot over the past 50 years. It has moved away from whole foods toward convenient but less-healthy foods. As it has changed, people have also gotten sicker. They are eating a lot more fast food, vending machine food, processed food , and food that is chemically altered in a lab to be hard to resist. These foods are having negative effects on an individual and a societal level that many students might not realize. For this reason, some people are choosing to reduce these processed foods in their diets and increase the amount of whole foods they eat.
