Yelich Earns NL MVP Honors
Batting .326, hitting 36 home runs, scoring 118 runs, and helping the Milwaukee Brewers win the National League Central Division (andmake it all the way to the league’s championship game) was enough to help Yelich earn 2018 NL MVP honors. He beat out Chicago Cubs infielder Javier Baez for the award. Yelich received all but one of the 30 first-place votes, with the other vote going to eventual NL Cy Young Award winner Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets. Along with leading the league in hitting, Yelich was also tops in slugging, on-base plus slugging percentage and total bases, setting career highs for all.
Yelich (NL) and Mookie Betts of the Boston Red Sox (AL) earned their respective league’s Most Valuable Player awards for the 2018 MLB season.
