His 2014 season, played mostly in left field (138 of 144 games played in 2014 for the Marlins), yielded an overall fielding percentage of 0.993. This is near perfect play. Yelich committed only two fielding errors, one in left and one in center field that season. He had 271 putouts over 279 defensive chances. He also chipped in with eight outfield assists, throwing runners out from all three outfield positions.
