Named NBA Most Valuable Player, 2013–2014 Durant was honored in college as the best player by winning the Naismith Award as a freshman at the University of Texas. He brought his talents as a wunderkind of the game to the NBA, and by his seventh season in the NBA he had worked his way up to the top (with the Oklahoma City Thunder). He led the NBA in field goals made and attempted (849/1,688), free throws made and attempted (703/805), points scored (2,593), and points-per-game average (32). These numbers not only helped Durant get named to the All-Star team and make first team All-NBA, it also helped him earn honors as the league’s Most Valuable Player.

Durant’s 2013–2014 season with the Thunder was one of the best of his career. He led the NBA in total points and was rewarded for his efforts with league MVP honors.
