First MLB All-Star Game Start

Trading for Yelich in 2018 paid immediate dividends for Milwaukee, because he was a superstar in the making. He was named to his first All-Star squad in 2018. Yelich’s efforts to start the 2019 campaign once again earned him recognition as one of the best players in the National League. This time, the recognition came from the fans, as he was voted to start the All-Star game for the first time. In just his second appearance, Yelich was second overall in the fan vote (behind former American League [AL] MVP Mike Trout of the Los Angeles Angels). Trout got 993,857 votes compared to Yelich’s NL-leading 930,577.

Yelich was named to his second career MLB All-Star game in consecutive years as a member of the Milwaukee Brewers. 2019 marked the first time in his career that he was named to the starting lineup.
