These violent outbursts would lead Brandão to end the relationship soon afterward, but that did not stop Cavalcante. The relationship between the two had ended. Cavalcante’s abuse had shattered the common ground on which they had built their relationship, and Brandão attempted to move on with her life. Brandão and her family moved back into their previous apartment in Schuylkill Township at the 300 block of Pawling Road, desperately hoping to get away from Cavalcante, who steadily became more and more violent and obsessive.
