He wouldn’t start a conversation, but if you start a conversation with him, he would talk normal. He would sit down sometimes and have a beer or two. On the weekends, sometimes, we would make barbeque. . . .” (Kadhim 2023) Rosa also depicted Cavalcante as a very private person. Reportedly, Cavalcante did not like to discuss his past life in Brazil and would change the subject or even end the conversation entirely when the topic was brought up. Rosa did not know about Cavalcante’s crimes in Brazil, nor did Brandão. Cavalcante hid this deviant side of himself until the façade he put on burst.
