Chapter Three

A pril 2021 began just like any other month in peaceful her ex-boyfriend Cavalcante would do something terrible to her or her family. Sadly, her fears would come true on the night of April 18, 2021. The day before Cavalcante brutally stabbed Brandão to death in front of her two children, he would move out of his shared apartment in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania. His former roommate, Franco Rosa, recounted an argument the two had had a few days before the murder, where Rosa had been upset that Cavalcante was suddenly moving out without notifying him in advance. Rosa recalled that at a barbeque party, Cavalcante had had a large knife on him, which he had been using to cut steak. Soon afterward, Cavalcante had left the party to confront Brandão. A witness who had attended the barbecue, Leandro Cardozo Patricio, reportedly had heard Cavalcante say that he had “to go get [his] woman.” (Vella 2023) The Day of the Murder A few short hours before the murder, Brandão would take her family shopping at a local Walmart, located approximately five miles from The Murder of Deborah Brandao Chester County.
