her apartment at the 300 block of Pawling Road in Chester County. It was there at this parking lot where Cavalcante, having already left the barbecue party earlier, would spot Brandão. He would then follow her back to her apartment, rolling up to the front lawn and haphazardly parking his car. Brandão and her two children were both outside, and Cavalcante confronted Brandão as the children played in the yard. Brandão’s landlord, Brian Flaxman, told news outlet The Daily Mail that he had seen them just minutes before the murder occurred: “When I saw them [Brandão and Cavalcante], they were just talking by Deborah’s car. She had the trunk open, and she had a bunch of juices and snacks for the kids. He didn’t appear aggressive at that time.” Flaxman would leave before the murder happened, not witnessing the horrifying events that were about to occur.
