and his wife heard a loud noise coming from their downstairs kitchen. Drummond slowly crept around the house to investigate the noise below, checking to see whether his two daughters were safe. He then noticed Cavalcante but decided not to confront the fugitive. Instead, he flicked a light switch to let Cavalcante know he was being watched. After a slight pause, Cavalcante flipped a light switch back, signaling his presence to Drummond. Drummond immediately told his wife to dial 911 as he watched Cavalcante slowly walk toward the house’s living room, exiting through a French door. Later, Drummond would describe the encounter as an “acute moment of terror” to Michael Smerconish of CNN. Cavalcante reportedly stole some produce from the house and a white baseball cap that Early Saturday morning gave rise to the second confirmed sighting of Cavalcante. At approximately 1:43 a.m., he was spotted on a residential camera on the 1800 block of Lenape Road in Pocopson Township, about 1.5 miles from Chester County Prison. Standing only five feet tall and weighing 120 pounds with long, curly black hair and an unkempt beard, the fugitive was seen emerging from a heavily wooded area. Footage showed Cavalcante wearing a white t-shirt, white sneakers, and prison-issue pants as he carried a small backpack, steadily making his way through the clumps of forestry. Later that day, the established search area would be closed off in all directions in an attempt to trap and isolate Cavalcante. Longwood Gardens, a botanical garden around a mile from Cavalcante’s last known location, announced a temporary closure.
